We are the bid writers for the EU-SEA project, an Interrreg 2seas project on the resource efficient economy, involving stabilised erosion control blocks (rock armour). With project partners in the Netherlands, Belgium, France and the UK, the partnership provides excellent expertise from a variety of conditions, but we are keen to further improve this and welcome additional partners.
EU-SEA stands for End-Users Sediment Engineered Applications and is a project developed in the response of adaptation to climate change, and resource efficient economy. EU-SEA will facilitate the adoption of geo-engineered products made from dredged materials that reduce the reliance on primary resources and introduces a circular approach to waterways management and flood protection. It supports local blue growth opportunities as it enables all work to be done locally, rather than outsourced to external providers.
Besides being involved as founders and bid writers, we are also contributing to the EU-SEA concept with our own GeoBlock concept. Exo’s GeoBlock takes a square based pyramid shape with a characteristic indentation that improves the stabilisation process and also provides unique habitat opportunities such as rock pools or nesting cavities. Exo has tested numerous types of sediments, from clays to sands and silts, in various consistencies and is successfully stabilising dredged sediments, a R&D which we are expanding through the EU-SEA.
