The 11th and 12th October saw the ExCel Centre, London, play host to the 3rd annual Flood Expo. In addition, whilst previous years have included them under the ‘Flood umbrella’, 2016 also saw the first delivery of the Marine and Coastal Civil Engineering (MCCE) and Contamination Expo series.
Although Exo Environmental has attended previous events as a visitor, the MCCE was significantly linked to Exo’s core activities that we decided to attend the 2016 Expo.
In conjunction, the three events sought to bring together experts, clients, consultants and suppliers from across the three sectors and provided an ideal platform for cementing old and forging new relationships, acquiring future business opportunities and facilitating knowledge exchange through a series of live presentations and debate sessions.
The suite of expertise present at the Expo mirrored that required in the typical real-world project space that Exo Environmental operates in. Rarely do our projects independently involve flood management, marine and coastal engineering or contamination control and mitigation. It is far more common for there to be a high level of coexistence and overlap.
Accordingly, we found the event to be a great opportunity to showcase Exo’s expertise and holistic approach across the industry, through our partnership with our Dutch associates, Svasek, who specialise in hydrodynamic and geomorphological modelling and Netics, who provide innovative engineering and design solutions.
In addition to our stand promoting our latest project updates, research and innovation and industry collaborations, we were also asked to give a presentation on “The Beneficial Reuse of Dredged Material in a Breakwater of Geotextile-Bags”. As with many other talks on the day, this was well received and created constructive debates of key subjects within the dredging world.
Overall, a great couple of days in the City and some fantastic exposure for Exo! Now we’re looking forward to exploring and developing our exciting new business opportunities and contacts over the coming year.
