Over the years Exo Environmental has carried out numerous sampling campaigns for a range of clients with different objectives. In many cases, this was in support of marine license applications with the Marine Management Organisation (MMO). We follow a strict methodology for any sampling to ensure that the samples collected are representative. This means working to predetermined and approved stations, using the correct receptacles based on the analyses required, meticulous labelling and immediate transport, often in a cool box.
Another important aspect is the correct type of sampling at the appropriate depth. We have taken samples from marinas, harbour berths, navigational channels and near key infrastructure. Several specialist tools such as Day grabs, van Veen grabs, Eckman grab, multi samplers (piston sampler) and Vibrocore enable us to sample in almost any environment. Each of those is selected based on the local characteristics. We are proud to say that thanks to our expertise, we have never had any samples failed for being outside of the industry sampling standards by the accredited laboratories. We are confident that when we say we can collect a sample; we will deliver the results in all cases.
Following the sampling, the wide range of different tests required are performed by the accredited laboratories we work with where independent analyses are carried out on the contaminants of interest predetermined in the sampling plan. This ensures that each sampling campaign we run is done to industry best practice at all stages and delivers the best possible results.
We are working on a marine license application and have just received a green light from the MMO on a sampling plan we prepared for it. We will therefore have a sampling case study in the near future, so keep an eye on the Blog and follow us on Twitter and Facebook to hear about it.
